The focus of the Business Development Manager MBO is to find leads within the SMB (Small & Mid size business) market segment and generate a pipeline of qualified prospects for our Management Buyout Consulting Services Practice.

We need a tenacious, energetic, positive person who can keep the pipeline full and work with the team primarily to close consulting engagements.

This is a true hunter position that will be based out of your home office.

Local travel throughout the gta will be required.

The Opportunity:

Within the SMB marketplace where owner/operators dominate, we are in the midst of one of the biggest wealth transfers in history as the Baby Boomer generation looks to implement succession plans with the goal of selling their businesses. Management Buyouts (MBO's) are often considered the most logical and attractive succession option for these existing owners because they offer the highest value to the owner while maximizing the businesses ongoing prospects.

However; a great challenge of MBO succession planning is that very often the business managers (the prospective purchasers) struggle to demonstrate a net wealth sufficient to get traditional funding sources such as Banks or the BDC to assist with the funding to complete such an acquisition.

This is where Root Capital can help. We provide the know-how to complete and MBO along with access to a network of Private Equity Sources that can help the existing management team bridge the funding gap to enable the deal to proceed.

What you will do:

- You will establish and maintain relationships that are conducive to building a funnel of prospects for our MBO Consulting services. Examples of prospective Business Development targets are:
  • Accountants
  • Lawyers
  • Book keepers
  • Small business networking organizations
  • Commercial Realtors
  • small business owners
  • etc.
  • ... essentially anyone that deals with companies that may have an interest in pursuing a Management Buyout and that have a sales value exceeding $1.0M

    - You will introduce our service and keep it front of mind within your target market.

    - You will arrange Partnership Assessment Sessions (PA's) between interested prospects and the Senior partners of Root Capital

    - You will assist in whatever capacity is required to close an engagement contract and to ensure the satisfactory delivery of our services.

    Minimum Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of business development experience (preferably in a field that requires business and financial acumen).
  • A proven track record of meeting and exceeding objectives
  • Someone who enjoys cold-calling, building relationships and closing the deal
  • Experience building a sales funnel from scratch and maintaining it full of qualified prospects
  • Comfortable finding and dealing with C-Level executives and business owners
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate a high level of commitment and follow-through
  • Good organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Driven, self-motivated and results-oriented
  • Proficiency in MS Office... including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Professional in appearance and demeanor

    You will be located out of your home office preferably located within your GTA territory.

    Target Remuneration:

    These positons include an extremely attractive six figure package comprised of commission and bonus for the right candidates.
